HIV self-testing – opportunities and challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic
The webinar took place on Friday, 27 November 2020, 13:00-13:45 CET
With the COVID-19 pandemic restricting access to face-to-face HIV testing services across the WHO European Region, it is crucial to offer alternative strategies to ensure continued uptake of testing. WHO recommends self-testing as an additional approach for delivering HIV testing services as a safe and effective way to increase access to and uptake of HIV testing services.
This free live webinar, “HIV self-testing – opportunities and challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic”, explores experiences with offering HIV self-testing from different organisations within the WHO European Region.
Case examples will be presented from Georgia (Georgian Harm Reduction Network) and Bulgaria (Single Step Foundation) where pilot studies were undertaken to assess acceptability of different types of self-testing. The findings from both pilots will be presented and discussed, as well as recommendations for implementers and decision-makers.
